Outspoken folk singer/songwriter/guitarist Ani DiFranco has written hundreds of songs, played thousands of shows, captured legions of followers and proven her fierce independence with her own record label Righteous Babe Records. Her latest album Red Letter Year was sculpted over two years, while she continued to hone her songwriting, performing and recording skills, all while balancing her new role as a mom. "I've got myself a new mantra," DiFranco says. "It says ‘Don't forget to have a good time.'" The songs on the new album celebrate life, profess love and tackle thorny political issues with an infectious sense of glee.

Chris Pureka

Chris Pureka, a rising songwriter from Northampton, MA has landed praise from publications like Time Out New York, Performing Songwriter, and The Boston Globe for both her 2004 debut, Driving North and the highly anticipated follow-up, Dryland (2006). Recent honors include being nominated for the 2007 Boston Music Awards, receiving an ASCAPPLUS award and being voted a "Most Wanted" emerging artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2006.For this indie-acoustic songstress with simple, heartfelt delivery, comparisons flow easily: many see hints of Patty Griffin, Gillian Welch or Ryan Adams. But, whatever the reference point, Chris Pureka has taken an unfettered, heart-on-your-sleeve approach and carved a niche for herself as a promising young troubadour.
