Guest artist Jon Nakamatsu claimed a place on the international music scene in 197 when named Gold Medalist of the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. A former high school German teacher, he became a popular hero overnight in the highly traditional medium of classical music. Named Debut Artist of the Year in 1998 by NPR's Performance Today, Nakamatsu is a charismatic performer of incredible technical and musical ability.
