Michael Franti & Spearhead

Saturday, June 11 • 7:30 p.m.

MichaelFranti.jpgMichael Franti & Spearhead return to the Britt hill for another electric live performance. Franti is a very big man who has always dared to say very big things through his joyous and passionate music. Yet for all the wide-ranging, yet consistent excellence of his music, what's most impressive about Franti is his ability to inspire. His most recent album, All Rebel Rockers, reinforces his place as a global force and a true musician of his time. Its first single, "Say Hey (I Love You)" quickly became one of the biggest of Franti's career. Special guest TBA.

Cornflower was wonderful. Nice performance. If he could forget that he’s on stage (or care less) I’ll bet he would be even better. I’ve seen him before and he just keeps getting better. Very fun.

I enjoy Michael Franti’s albums a lot and I’ve enjoyed his live performances in the past, but this time he really screwed up his own music. I don’t know why, but he made his otherwise regge / rap / soul / beat music into some kind of bland country-like junk. I mean I like a lot of country music, it’s not that, but I didn’t come to hear Franti render his music for some barn dance. It wasn’t even danceable and not at all enjoyable renditions. Very puzzling.
