k.d. lang is that rare performer who - over 25 years as a major-label artist - has matured before our ears. The Western Canada native began her career playing a blend of country and rock with a playfully punk-like attitude, but since has gone on a creative and artistic journey through styles, sounds, songs and sensibilities. Lang's pop career reached a fevered pitch with 1992's Ingenue, an elegant and impassioned set of songs that contained her biggest pop hit, "Constant Craving." In recent years lang has continued to craft remarkable solo albums and has collaborated with some of the other greats of the era, including Tony Bennett, who called her, "the best singer of her generation." This year lang is touring withThe Siss Boom Bang in support of their new album, Sing It Loud.
Opening for lang is D.C. roots rocker Justin Jones. The Virginia native has been writing songs since he was 13 and now writes about the experience of growing up in an area populated with what he calls “true southerners.” Well traveled and schooled in lessons of American life, Jones’ songs evoke timelessness and express the poignancy of observations made amidst turmoil.
