An Evening with The Kingston Trio
Friday, July 22, 2005 • 8 p.m.
The release of "Tom Dooley" in 1958 began the "folk music revival" and set the stage for Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary and the entire folk movement of the '60s. Their dozens of hits including "A Worried Man," "M.T.A.," "Where Have Al The Flowers Gone" and "500 Miles" brought the trio to meteoric success, unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame. The Kingston Trio was the number one vocal group in the world, a ,musical phenomenon whose record sales and concert draws were matched only by the Beatles. Although the group's personnel has changed over the years, the Kingston Trio continues to bring the rich tradition of American folk music into pop culture. It is one of the few groups today that has survived the many changes in the world of music. They have remained consistent in their sound.
