Larry Carlton Blues Project Featuring Robben Ford
Saturday, June 17, 2006 • 7:30 p.m.
This night is a guitar lover's dream. Larry Carlton established himself from his firs recording, A Little Help From My Friends. His studio credits include musiciansand groups like Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Blnd, Dolly Parton and Linda Rondstadt and literally dozens of others. It was while he was with the Crusaders that he developed the highly rhythmic, often blusey style he has now. Many Grammy nominations later, he joins forces with Robben Ford.
At 18, Ford was playing with the likes of Charlie Musselwhite, Jimmy Witherspoon, the L.A. Express with Tom Scott, George Harrison, and Joni Mitchell. In 1977, he was a founding member of the Yelowjackets, which he stayed with until 1983. Ford then toured with Miles Davis and with Sadao Watanabe, but he seemed to really find himself in 1992 when he returned to his roots: the blues.
