Lynn Harrell is one of today's most celebrated performing artists. A phenomenal cellist, Mr. Harrell is a frequent guest of many leading orchestras, collaborating with distinguished conductors and artists all over the world. Recently he appeared with the New York Philharmonic playing the Beethoven Triple Concerto with violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and her husband and pianist, Andre Previn. His first-ever appearance at Britt is sure to be unforgettable.
The Fourth Symphony of Danish composer Carl Nielsen was named "The Inextinguishable" by the composer. Nielsen wrote that in adopting this title, he "sought to express in a single word what only the music itself is fully capable of expressing: the elemental will to live. Music is life and just as inextinguishable." Composed during World War I, this is a symphony of conflict and hope.
