Five-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Michael McDonald's first moments in the spotlight were as an adjunct member of Steely Dan during the 1970s and later as a singer for the Doobie Brothers. McDonald emerged as a star in his own right during the 80s with a series of solo albums and 1984's Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group Grammy for "Yah Mo B There" with James Ingram. Since then McDonald's continued to produce his own variety of blue-eyed soul and soft rock on highly successful solo albums including Motown and Soul Speak.
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Boz Scaggs became a
household name after 1976’s Silk Degrees, which
featured a list of songs emblematic of the 1970s including “Lido Shuffle,”
“We’re All Alone,” and the timeless, “Lowdown.”Born in Texas and raised with an abiding respect for
a wide spectrum of American roots music, Scaggs has combined elements of rock,
rhythym and blues, jazz and soul in a trademark sound all his own. With an
extensive and distinctive career that’s spanned 30 years and countless
accolades, Scaggs continues to prove himself as one of music’s most creative
and original artists.
What an awesome band for both performers! I thought McDonald’s voice seemed a bit weary, but that can be expected with a tour like this. Boz was fabulous, and the licks from his guitar guy, Drew Zingg, were sharp, tasty, and phenomenal. A wonderful evening!
