SMETANA The Moldau (from "My Fatherland")
BARTOK Violin Concerto No. 2
TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No. 2 in c minor, Op. 17 "Lit tle Russian"

JenniferFrautschi.jpgAvery Fisher Career Grant recipient Jennifer Frautschi (pronounced: frouchy) has gained acclaim as an adventurous performer with a wide-ranging repertoire. Selected by Carnegie Hall for its Distinctive Debuts series, she made her New York recital debut in 2004. Frautschi was born in Pasadena, California, and studied at Harvard, the New England Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School.

As an active soloist and chamber performer, Frautschi compared performing to another fast-moving activity in an interview with the New Haven Regist er in 2005. She said, "The thing about performing is that you need incredibly quick reflexes, like a race car driver. Unless you are playing by yourself," she points out, "things just keep getting thrown at you…so you need to have lightning-quick reflexes to deal with things, to negotiate the turns. This is part of what makes it so incredibly exciting, and why it can get some people freaked out."

Frautschi has earned praise for her performances and recordings alike. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer wrote, “She is the real thing.” She will perform Bartok’s Violin Concerto No. 2 at Britt. For more information about Jennifer Frautschi, visit http://www.jenniferfrautschi.com
