As the season waltzes to a close, violinist Sarah Chang returns to Britt after her stunning performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The Romantic Violin Concerto of Jean Sibelius is thought by many to be the most beautifulof al concertos for the violin. Ms. Chang's emotive playing is sure to make this a thrilling performance.
In Rapsodie espagnole French Impressionist Maurice Ravel paints a musical picture of Spain which includes two mediterannean dances, Habanera and Malaguena. He used another dance to form, the slow country Pavane, to pay musical tribute to a member of the French aristocracy. Finally, the concert closes with La Valse about which Ravel wrote "Through whirling clouds can be glimpsed now and again waltzing couples. The mists gradually disperse, and a huge ballroom is revealed, filled with a great crowd of whirling dancers."
