Shawn Colvin
Thursday, Juy 27, 2006 • 7:30 p.m.
Shawn Colvin is one of the bright spots of the "new folk movement" that began in the late '80s. In the 15 years since her debut album, Colvin has recorded six albums, earned three Grammy Awards and written a wealth of remarkabe songs. With Steady On and the subsequent albums Fat City, Cover Girl, A Few Small Repairs, Holiday Songs and Lullabies and Whole New You, Colvin has proven herself to be one of the most poignant singer-songwriters of her time. Underpining all, of course, is the deft picking and knoty strumming of Colvin's own acoustic guitar work.
Dar Williams

Dar
Williams is a major force on the New England folk scene. Her
songwriting and performing style has been compared to that of Joni
Mitchell and Joan Baez but with a few acidic and, at times, hilarious
twists. Lyrically, her latest release My Better Self is a
political album in the most personal way. It combines songs of love and
hate with tales that illustrate some of the many social and
environmental issues that Dar Williams holds dear to her heart.
