willienelson.jpgIf ever the words "living legend" were more than just public relations bluster, the application would be to Willie Hugh Nelson. The iconic Texan is the creative genius behind historic recordings like "Crazy," "Hello Walls," "Red Headed Stranger" and "Stardust." His career has spanned six decades. Nelson's catalog boasts more than 200 albums. He's earned every conceivable award and honor to be bestowed a person in his profession. Nelson has also amassed reputable credentials as an author, actor and activist. He has headlined Farm Aid, lobbied against horse slaughter, produced his own blend of biodiesel fuel and released a new studio album, Moment of Forever. Liz and Lincoln

This young energetic couple fell in love at age 14, married after college and continued pursuing individual music careers. They recently caught the ear of legendary songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard, who suggested they merge their talents and form a duo. The result has been the most down-home poetic mix of soul, blues, rock and country since Delaney & Bonnie. Their songwriting styles bring together a refreshing mix of rich thought provoking imagery coupled with depth and humor. Powerful vocal harmonies provide a potent sound which intertwined with Lincolns gnarly guitar licks and Liz’s range of percussion and harmonica prove these kindred spirits will be well worth keeping up with. I can not tell you how upset and disappointed we were at this concert.
Not only were we patted down in a search ,our personal articles were searched. AND an item was confiscated! Yes it was a small pocket knife. OK
But what were you searching for
DRUGS,WEAPONS,ALCOHOL!
So explain to me why you did NOTHING when some were smoking POT is this not a DRUG?
We brought it to the attention of one of the event staff and we were told”that is not my job! go find a sherriff”!
We were told “everyone is doing it!”
We were not doing it. If it had been a ciggarette I guess everything would have been different!
We do not smoke and do not appriciate it being around us
Well with all the kids running no one did a thing!
Why is this???
What were the sherriffs there for?
We left during the concert in total discust.
We are not the olny ones that have these complaints and will never go to these concerts again and will spread the word.
As for Willie Nelson the sound man must have been asleep. It was horrible!

Hi Heidi,
Thanks for your comments. I’m so sorry you had a bad experience. We do take all patron comments very seriously, and I have forwarded your post on to our production and house management personnel. Thanks, Sara King Cole—Britt Festivals.

We enjoyed the concert and were pleased when Wiillie Nelson played nearly every one of our favorite songs. Maybe I’m not a sound expert but I didn’t find anything wrong with the acoustics!
We did feel quite violated at being frisked before entering. This didn’t happen with the Steve Miller concert at Lithia. The whole atmosphere with the security people in black shirts searching out the smokers and shooing away the dancers leaves a lot to be desired with this venue. My suggestion would be to skip the Lithia amphitheater as it is not in the spirit of Britt!

Willie was amazing as always, but the frisking at the door was OVER THE TOP! First off, after waiting for about 2 hours for the gates to open, the event staff opened up and everyone swarmed for the door. Absolutely no respect for those that had waited patiently for good lawn seats. THEN, as we approached the entrance and were all but strip searched, I found myself watching my 6 year olds eyes widen like a deer in the headlights and I thought to myself, “so much for a family friendly event!” I attended the show with a group of 20 or so people who make a yearly trip from CA to the Britt for the Labor Day shows. Seeing a show at the Lithia was a first for all of us & I can promise you that none will go back again. No matter who is playing.

...That said, Willie was his amazing self. He played wonderfully and we all enjoyed seeing him.
