Tommy Emmanuel
With four Platinum and Gold albums and two consecutive Golden Guitar awards, it’s no wonder the famed Aussie, Tommy Emanuel, has been called “God’s gift to the guitar”. At age four, young Tommy picked up his first guitar and learned to pluck. Since he has been the only non-American to be inducted into the Thumb pickers Hall of Fame. Amazingly he learned to play from sound alone with no formal instruction. At age six he stepped onto the stage and wowed audiences with his sheer unadulterated talent. Tommy toured around Australia making music with his siblings, and as an early teen he went out on his own and his career quickly took off. He has since had a long and vibrant career, including performing with his idol Chet Atkins. Tommy has been nominated for two Grammys and has been voted by Rolling Stone as “Most popular Guitarist” for two consecutive years. His gentlemanly Australian nature gives him a notably loveable mystique. With his unique style and sheer talent, Tommy Emmanuel is unmistakably one of the greatest artists of all time. See his upcoming concert at the Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville Friday, July 24.
