Britt's hard-working volunteers were honored at the annual Volunteer
Appreciation Party last Sunday, September 27, on the Britt hill. Dinner
was provided, followed by an awards ceremony, and a performance by the
Hamazons. The following volunteers were honored:
- All Head Ushers, Concessions Managers, Security Captains and
Chairs for the Ice Cream Booth, Gift Booth, Espresso Booth and Cleanup
crew
- Elke Wolfe, for most raffle tickets sold (3680)
- Kristin Biechler, runner-up for most raffle tickets sold (2770)
- Claire Marks, for most hours worked
- Jordan DeGraw, for spearheading the upper bathroom renovation project with his Eagle Scout Troop
- Shawn DeGraw, Volunteer of the Year. Shawn joined the Britt
Society board this year, served as one of several concessions managers
and chaired a new gift booth committee. He also helped his son Jordan
and the Eagle Scout Troop 167 completely renovate the upper bathrooms
at Britt.
Britt Society President Brian McCormick presented Britt with Britt
Society's annual donation. This donation comes from funds the Britt
Society earns from concessions, raffle ticket sales and merchandise
sales, and the check this year was a generous $34,000. Britt Society
also presented a $500 check to the Britt Institute (Britt's educational
arm) in honor of staff members Julie Gurwell, Bow Seltzer, Cil Stengel,
Matthew Reynolds and Megan Burr.
