Why I Love G. Love's Music

G. Love, a self-proclaimed hip-hop bluesman, will play the Britt Festival on Friday. During the online chat with G. Love on Wednesday on the Britt website, the thing that stood out the most to me was his genuine personality and passion for his music. He also has an immense knowledge of blues and names many of the key players in blues history (like Blind Lemon Jefferson, Booker T, Jimmy Smith, Frosty Collins and Bukka White) beginning as early as 1920 in a verse of his song, "Blues Music"-taught me a thing or two.

When I am in desperate need of a distraction on a never-ending roadtrip (which seems to be happening a lot lately), I pop in G. Love’s first self titled cd and wait for my song to come on- "Baby's Got Sauce," it’s an amazing song which offers both a hip-hop hook and an endearing tribute to a domineering woman in his life- something I can totally relate to because I am one haha...

Of course, G. Love’s cds are in that rare class of music that you can listen to countless times without getting bored with them- I can listen to his cds all the way through without skipping anything- pretty close to a miracle for me. Whether cruising on a road trip, kickin’ back with family & friends or out on a date & trying to set the mood, his music feels good- you can’t help but smile while listening to it.

G. Love’s music always makes me feel like I'm on a back porch in the deep-south, drinking a cold beer with close friends in the summertime. If you like that feeling, you absolutely cannot miss his show this Friday!
