Rogue Valley Symphony with pianist Jon Nakamatsu at The Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford, Oregon October 4 at 8:00 P.M.
Program:
Liszt - Les Prelude
Saint-Saens - Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor
Dvorak - Symphony No. 8

"Besides being an astounding technician, Nakamatsu shows impeccable taste; he puts a high gloss on anything he plays." -Chicago Tribune

Jon Nakamatsu came to instant international attention on the day he won the Gold Medal at the Tenth Annual Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1997. He was named Debut Artist of the Year in 1998 by NPR's Performance Today and was profiled by CBS Sunday Morning and by Reader's Digest magazine. Since then he has become one of the most sought-after pianists of his generation, with a reputation for strength and immaculate technique, as well as for interpretation -- "he understands the music of our time from his heart rather than his head" (Salonmagazine).

Even if you’re not one of Slightly Stoopid’s fans (and judging from MySpace there are a lot of them with over 7 million profile views!), you should know what you are going to get at the show- competent and talented dub/ska jams oozing California sunshine. Seeing them play in the intimate setting of the Ashland Armory will be amazing- making this a show not to miss!
