Call to Artists: 2023 – 2025 Fine Arts Posters

Published: June 7, 2022

The submission period for this season’s Call to Artists has closed.

Thanks to everyone who submitted an application. The jury will be reviewing the entries during the next weeks and plans to announce the winners by Sept. 1st, 2022.

Britt’s Fine Arts Poster is a cherished tradition that celebrates Britt’s concert series and music through the visual arts. Britt is seeking original pieces of artwork by local artists to commemorate the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons through each season’s Fine Arts Poster.

Specifications for the chosen artist’s finished work
(please see the process and submissions guidelines below):

Original work must represent any aspect of the Britt Experience of concerts under the stars in Britt’s outdoor amphitheater in Jacksonville. It can be a work that has already been created, or one created specifically for the Fine Arts Poster.

The original work can be of any medium that can be scanned or photographed so that it can be used in print and digital formats. The selected artist should be able to produce a completed piece by February of the year that they are assigned.

The artist will donate original work to Britt Music & Arts Festival, which will be auctioned during the Best of Britt fundraising event for our Education programs each year.

Britt will provide an $800 honorarium to the artist.

Preference:

The piece should be able to be incorporated into a marketing piece, with negative space where text could be incorporated. Possible uses can be marketing “season-at-a-glance” poster, playbill cover, large poster, postcards, etc.

The finished poster artwork will trim to 17″ x 21″. Actual size may be larger, as long as it fits into the trim space.

Final artwork is due in early February of the year that the artist is selected for.

Selection process/procedure:

The selection of artists will be decided by a committee made up of Britt staff and local artists. The committee will select an artist for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 Fine Arts Posters.

Artists interested in being selected should submit the following by August 12, 2022:

  • Name and contact information
  • At least three samples of their work via email or digital download
  • Artist Statement: A brief statement explaining the artist’s process techniques and concepts.
  • Piece Description: Paragraph describing the piece artist would like to create for the Fine Arts Poster
