Britt Unveils 2019 Fine Arts Poster

JACKSONVILLE, OR – Britt unveiled its 2019 Fine Arts Poster on Thursday, May 2 at the Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville. This year’s work is a night sky painting in watermedia by local artist Pam Haunschild. The poster is the 35th in a series celebrating Britt through the visual arts. The piece, entitled “Britt under the Stars”, features a starry sky with trees and the top of the stage coming in from the bottom edge – much as it looks when one lays back in the grass during a concert night at Britt. Born in Chicago, Pam is a nature artist who splits her time between the Rogue Valley and Bandon, Oregon. After a career as a social science professor at Stanford and University of Texas-Austin, Pam turned back to her first love and has been painting full time ever since. She educated herself by taking a lot of classes and workshops, and was fortunate to be able to do intensive study with two nationally known watermedia artists. She has also been selected as artist-in-residence at three National Parks: Lassen (CA), Glacier (MT), and Lake Clark (AK). As a regular fan of Britt concerts, she applied for the Fine Arts Poster in 2016, and was one of three finalists selected from ten nominees.

The original painting will be offered as an auction item during the Best of Britt fundraising event for Britt Education & Engagement programs, held on Monday, July 1 along with the Kris Kristofferson and The Strangers concert. During this event, attendees will be able to view the painting and have the option to bid on it.

The reception also honored winners of the Jacksonville Elementary spring musical poster competition, through Britt’s partnership with the school. This is the 31st year that Britt has hosted the annual school play. Posters were created in preparation for the school’s annual musical, and winners were chosen at each grade level, along with an overall grand prize winner. The 2019 production is “Mary Poppins, Jr.”, which will be performed on the Britt main stage on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m.

The 2019 Britt Fine Arts Poster is generously sponsored by Wells Fargo.

Britt will be offering another call for artists for the 2020 and future seasons during May. Watch for details at Brittfest.org and in Britt’s regular publications.
