Britt provides free tickets for senior citizens

August 17, 2011

MEDFORD, OR — Through the generous support of the Carpenter Foundation and the Collins Foundation, Britt is providing tickets for 50 senior citizens to attend two concerts in the 2011 Classical Festival. The first was the August 6 concert that featured violinist James Ehnes, and second is the “Festival Favorites” concert this Friday, August 19.

Britt pursued the grants in an effort to increase access to classical music for underserved audiences. The invitation for the tickets was extended to members of the Medford Senior Center, who live largely on fixed incomes.

Patti Proctor, Executive Director of the Medford Senior Center, says, “We are very excited about this summer activity.  It is providing a very special chance for our retired seniors with modest incomes to get out and enjoy the beauty of the outdoor venue along with the fabulous sounds of the Britt Orchestra.”

In addition to tickets, Britt partnered with Laidlaw Transit Inc. to provide round-trip transportation from Medford Senior Center to Britt.

Britt’s Director of Development Donna Briggs says, “We are truly excited to be involved in such an important outreach effort. Britt hopes to inspire the community to value and sustain our efforts as we strive to introduce as many people as possible to the Britt Experience. “
