While best known for its intensive summer talent-development camps, the Britt Institute is also involved in other educational programs:
Eden Valley Concert Series: Britt Institute in the Gardens
Concerts featuring faculty, alumni and students of Britt’s education programs. All proceeds benefit Britt Institute Scholarships. All concerts are on Tuesdays at the Eden Valley Orchards located at 2310 Voorhies Road in Medford and start at 7 p.m. The cover is $10 per person. 6/30—Flamenco in the Gardens Dúo Flamenco Dúo Flamenco, based in Ashland, Oregon, features Grant Ruiz on guitar and vocals and Terry Longshore on cajón, percussion, and vocals. This fiery duo will bring southern Spain to EdenVale —the arid, sun-drenched mountain plateaus; tiled courtyards with elegant, whispering fountains and caves filled with gypsy passion; and a history flowing with ecstasy and anguish.
7/7—Guitar in the Gardens New West Guitar Group Britt Jazz Camp alumni John Storie* returns to the Rogue Valley with his headline making group New West. John has performed across the country and is gaining recognition as a leading figure among young musicians.
7/14—Opera in the Gardens Baritone Mike Morris* Soprano Madeline Abel-Kerns* California-based baritone Michael Morris and New York soprano Madeline Abel-Kerns present an extraordinary concert of solos and duets from Aida, Tosca and more. Don’t miss this reunion of two of Britt’s favorite faculty members and the West Coast’s very own opera stars, filling the gardens with voice.
8/4—Strings in the Gardens Arianna String Quartet* Returning to EdenVale after their acclaimed concert last summer, the Arianna String Quartet promises to provide a lovely evening of string quartet repertoire. Pre-concert music will be provided by the eight string quartets studying with them as part of Britt Festivals’ String Quartet Academy.
8/18—Gabe in the Gardens Gabe Young* and Friends Thirteen year old saxophonist Gabe Young is already making a splash in the Rogue Valley. When he first arrived at the Britt Jazz Camp three summers ago at the ripe age of ten, the saxophone faculty said “This kid is something special.” Come hear what makes him special, along with Sophie Javna, Wesley Wade*, Kristina Meyer*, Ian Wurfl* and Rafferty Swink.*
9/8—Guitar in the Gardens Lineage Gary Wade, Justin Wade and Wesley Wade* comprise the guitar ensemble, Lineage. Father, son and grandson are considered to be among the finest guitarists in the valley. Enjoy three generations of music in the making!
ALSO AT EDEN VALLEY ORCHARDS: Thursday Night Jazz in the Gardens 6/25 at 6 p.m.—Dana Landry Septet Britt’s Instrumental Jazz Camp Faculty Concert Join pianist Dana Landry and six nationally known faculty members from the Britt Institute’s Instrumental Jazz Camp for a night of sizzling jazz. This evening only: $5 cover charge.

Jazzed About Jazz: Jazz Camp's 20th Anniversary Concert Britt Pavilion, Jacksonville Saturday, June 27 • 7:30 p.m.
In honor of the 20th anniversary of the camp, the students of Britt’s 2009 Instrumental Jazz Camp will perform on the Britt hill for the first time in the camp’s history. Admission is just $5, with all proceeds benefiting Britt Institute scholarships. Join us for an evening that will celebrate this year’s students, faculty past and present, and 20 years of an outstanding jazz program!
