Britt Education & Engagement works in partnership with these like-minded organizations in our community. Together, we are able to deliver diverse programming that is inclusive, rewarding, and focused on providing the means for artistic self-expression to our community.
Britt Music & Arts Festival has had a school-business partnership with Jacksonville Elementary School since 1988. Britt actively collaborates with the school to present its annual musical, which is performed at the Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville. In 2017, Jacksonville Elementary presents "The Wizard of Oz, Jr" May 25 at 7pm. Jacksonville Elementary School often makes their facility available to Britt for a variety of summer music education camps, workshops, and Master Classes, as well as an alternative rehearsal space for the Britt Orchestra when needed.
Britt works closely with the Medford School District to connect K -12 students to professional teaching musicians through our In-school Residency program.
Britt helped The Modern Roots Foundation launch the Rogue Roots & Strings Camp in 2016, and we continue to explore projects we can work on together. The Modern Roots Foundation is known for its support of roots music instruction, and for offering affordable music lessons to local children. Britt and Modern Roots share a commitment to providing accessible music education in southern Oregon.
Britt and Rogue Community College (RCC) began a partnership in 2015 through RCC's Music Appreciation class, which included connecting the students directly to Music Director Teddy Abrams and several visiting artists. The students also studied two large orchestral works that the Britt Orchestra was scheduled to perform, attended rehearsals of those pieces, and the actual performances. RCC also provided their music building as the location for Britt's very first Guitar Workshop last August.
We share a dedication with Siskiyou Music Project to fostering the growth of the performing arts in southern Oregon. In 2015, we collaborated with SMP's Artistic Director, Ed Dunsavage, to create our first Guitar Workshop, now known as the Britt Guitar Weekend. We also co-present ensembles who are interested in music education each year.
Britt's connection with The Oregon Center for the Arts at SOU allows us the opportunity to jointly attract artists who have a passion for providing in-school presentations and interactive programs for kindergarten through graduate-level classes. Most of these musicians in residence also offer affordable performances at Britt, SOU, or other venues in our community. Learn more about Britt's residencies.
