Boz Scaggs’ remarkable catalog, which includes such radio staples as "Lowdown" and "Lido Shuffle,” has just gifted us with the recently released A Fool to Care, a pitch-perfect tribute to American roots music that Q Magazine calls “…some of the best music of his career. Every track is a jewel of unforced artistry in America’s R&B tradition.” Fans will instantly recognize his characteristically deft touch as a singer on the collection.
“I’m at a point where I’m having a lot of fun with music, more than ever,” Scaggs says about the record. “It’s like I’m just going wherever I want to go with it.” You can hear that sense of fun, as well as that ability and willingness to wander in any musical direction throughout the album’s twelve tracks. Special Guest, Dan Balmer Trio.
Dan Balmer Trio
Dan Balmer has long been considered one of the finest guitarists, composers, and educators in the Northwest. In 2009, Dan became the youngest, and one of only five Oregonians to be honored with membership in both The Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame. Dan has toured the world with two time Grammy Award Winner Diane Schuur. He has released 10 of his own CDs and played on more than 90 others. He currently performs regularly at Jimmy Mak's in Portland, Oregon.
