Britt’s Music Director Peter Bay to leave Festival after 2012 season - Maestro Peter Bay, Music Director and Conductor of the Britt Festival Orchestra, has given notice that 2012 will be his final season with Britt. As per his contract, he is giving the Festival two seasons’ notice to allow for the search process for his successor. (8-3-11)
Britt's 2011 Classical Festival brings a 90-member orchestra to southern Oregon - Highlights include guest appearances by guitarist Sharon Isbin, pianist Christopher O'Riley, the contemporary trio Time for Three, and a "Festival Favorites" night including Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture (8-1-11)
Britt receives $30,000 grant from the Oregon Community Foundation - Britt received a grant from two funds of The Oregon Community Foundation in support of organizational capacity and finances. The Evelyn Nye Cultural and Scholarship Fund of OCF granted $13,000 and the Irene Gerlinger Swindells Fund of OCF granted $17,000. (6-15-11)
Britt adds second Michael Franti evening performance with support from Dutch Bros. Coffee - Due to high demand, and withthe generous support of business partner Dutch Bros. Coffee, Britt has added a second Michael Franti evening performance to the 2011 lineup. The added performance will be Sunday, June 12 at 7 p.m. on the Britt hill in Jacksonville. (6-1-11)
Britt adds Franti matinee, plans for "Taste of Summer" - Michael Franti will be performing a kid's show at the Britt Pavilion at 3 p.m. on June 11, the same day Jacksonville and Britt host the "Taste of Summer" event to kick-off the 2011 Britt season and summer in Southern Oregon. (5-12-11)
Britt to help students find their inner rock star with new Rock Camp - Applications are now being accepted for Britt’s first-annual Rock Camp. Rock Camp will be held July 18-22, 2011, and is focused on regional musicians, ages 13-17, with intermediate ability on guitar, bass, drums or keyboard. (4-26-11)
Britt expands concessions to offer new food/beverage choices, patio seating - This summer there will be more food and beverage choices at the Britt Pavilion than ever before in addition to the exciting new patio seating area. (4-12-11)
Britt Announces its 2011 season lineup - Motown icon Smokey Robinson, acclaimed alt-rockers The Decemberists, Grammy winner Ray LaMontagne, rocker Ted Nugent, pianist and radio host Christopher O’Riley, country legend Charlie Daniels, bluegrass favorites Alison Krauss & Union Station, pop star Sara Bareilles, reggae masters Steel Pulse and The Wailers, irreverent comic Bill Maher, children’s entertainer Aaron Nigel Smith, a live taping of the popular radio show eTown, Celtic phenomenon Kila and the incomparable Bobby McFerrin are among the headliners on their way to Britt’s 49th season of concerts under the stars this summer.
