Principal Trumpet (substitute position)

Applicants are screened through a blind audition process. Your inquiry will be acknowledged.

To apply, please submit a resumé and recording, as follows:

IMPORTANT: Please record the exact excerpts on separate tracks (6 tracks total) as specified below, without accompaniment. Please follow the given naming convention of each excerpt for your tracks, given below next to the excerpt in italics.

I. Solo:

Haydn: Trumpet Concerto -1st mvt, exposition only (Smith, John – Haydn)

II. Orchestral Excerpts:

Mahler: Symphony No. 5 – mvt I beginning to 6 mm. after reh. 1 (Smith, Jane – Mahler)

Mussorgsky/Ravel: Pictures at an Exhibition – Promenade opening to reh #2 (Smith, John – Mussorgsky)

Respighi: Pines of Rome – mvt. 1 opening to reh. #8 (Smith, Jane – Respighi 1)
AND mvt. II offstage solo, 8 measures after reh. #10 for 10 measures (Smith, John – Respighi 2)

Stravinsky: Petrouchka (1911 version), 4 mm. after reh. 69 – reh. 70 (Smith, Jane – Stravinsky
