Rising Stars Competition 2014
Competition Performance Schedule
Britt and South Stage Cellars present the third annual Rising Stars competition, in which local musicians compete and the public votes on their favorite.
South Stage Cellars created the competition in 2012, and Britt joined the partnership in 2013. The winner will have the opportunity to perform at Britt, and play live on Jefferson Public Radio, among other prizes.
The Rising Stars competition is open to acts consisting of one-four people in jazz, folk, classical, blues, country, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, flamenco, soft rock, a capella, contemporary or original music.
From those who apply, twelve acts will be selected to perform at South Stage Cellars' Jacksonville tasting room at weekend performances, beginning February 1. Admission is free, and in the initial rounds, the public can vote for their favorite performer for $2 per vote. This year, all voting proceeds will benefit the Britt Institute's music education programs. The final round will take place March 1 on the Britt stage, with the winner chosen by a combination of public voting and a panel of judges.
