Britt kicks off the 2017 season with TajMo, Dustin Lynch and new local restaurant concessions

Jacksonville, OR – A warm, sunny weekend is predicted for the opening weekend of the Britt Music and Arts Festival, kicking off the 55th season of live performances this Saturday, June 17, with the recently formed TajMo: The Taj Mahal and Keb Mo Band. The two titans of blues have joined forces and will get the Britt season rolling for a large audience. Opening weekend continues Sunday, June 18 with rising country star Dustin Lynch. Following up on Tuesday, June 20 is the underground hip-hop of Jurassic 5. The season continues with an eclectic variety of music and comedy acts through Sunday, September 17, wrapping it up with George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

Two concerts are officially sold out: The Good Vibes Tour with Rebelution, and Huey Lewis and the News. In addition, the season starts with several shows at near sold out levels: TajMo, The Avett Brothers, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Ron White, and the Goo Goo Dolls with Phillip Phillips. Lawn tickets are still available for the near sold out shows.

Britt also announces that it will be upgrading food concessions at the Table Rock Café food court this summer, featuring quality food selections from two local restaurants: Back Porch Bar & Grill and The Schoolhaus Brewhaus from Jacksonville, as well as food truck vendors Peruvian Point and Fired Up Gourmet. They will be operating in the newly remodeled Table Rock Café food court during every main stage concert this season.

Britt selected the four businesses based on their demonstrated ability to succeed at providing high quality food served quickly, meeting demand within a tight window on concert nights. To see the complete menus being offered at Table Rock Café this season, visit brittfest.org/concessions.

Britt has experimented with food trucks during the past two seasons. In 2015, food trucks were brought in for five shows, followed by ten shows in 2016. The food trucks proved to be a popular option, and the Britt board made a decision to invest in infrastructure, remodeling and upgrading the food court buildings with guidance from restaurant professionals. The remodeling work was performed over the 2016-2017 winter break, and all remodeling and inspections have been completed in time for all four restaurants to serve food beginning on opening night.

The cost of remodeling the old concession building, which came out of Britt’s reserves, was $160,000. Restaurant owners have also invested thousands of dollars in new equipment.
