Taste of Summer celebration returns to Jacksonville June 4

JACKSONVILLE, OR — Britt Music & Arts Festival and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce are planning a full afternoon of music, wine, food and more at the annual Taste of Summer event on Saturday, June 4, in downtown Jacksonville. Taste of Summer is a celebration of the beginning of summer and the Britt concert season, and each year, it has grown to attract an increasing number of visitors to the City of Jacksonville.

This year, California Street will be closed to automobile traffic from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., in order to better accommodate the increase in event attendance, and to facilitate vehicular traffic through town. During the California Street closure, traffic will be detoured to N. Oregon and 5th Streets, with E and F Streets serving as cross-traffic streets. See a map marking the detour here, or find a link on the Britt website home page: http://www.brittfest.org/assets/TOS2016-TrafficControl.jpg

Taste of Summer is centered around a wine walk from 12-4 p.m., which includes 25 local wineries and tasting rooms. Tasting stops will be located in shops throughout town. Tickets for the wine walk are $30, and may be purchased in person at the event, at the wine walk booth on the corner of California and 3rd Streets, or at Art Presence Art Center on N. 5th Street. More highlights of the event include:

• Live music by Maraval Road Street Band, Duke Street Band, North Medford High Chamber Players and more
• Food by ten local restaurants and food booths
• Beer garden by Frau Kemmling Schoolhaus Brewhaus
• Classic car and vintage trailer displays
• Artisans offering fine art and craft items
• A wine/food pairing class hosted by Platt Anderson Cellars at 11 a.m. at Art Presence Art Center.

A full list of wine walk participants, restaurants, artisans and more can be found on brittfest.org.
