Ukulele Getaway
July 5-7, 2013 • 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Whether you've been playing the ukulele for years or you've never picked a musical instrument up in your life, there's no denying the appeal of the world's happiest instrument. Participants in Britt's Ukulele Getaway will join a stellar faculty and fellow uke-thusiasts for three days of happy music that will feel like a vacation - without even leaving the Rogue Valley!
With workshops for beginning, intermediate, and advanced players, participants will finger-pick, strum, sing (not required!), write, jam, and most of all - make music. Instructors will facilitate the exploration of Hawaiian, bluegrass, country, rock, pop, jazz, and everything in-between.
Faculty: Jim D'Ville Guido Heistek Tish McFadden Bryan Holley Ben Gaskin Jeff Kloetzel and others to be announced
What to expect from the Ukulele Getaway: Attendees participate in all-group sessions and get to select individual workshops to attend each day. We'll also have open mic opportunities and jam sessions during the day and possibly after-hours. Lunch is included in the tuition fee. Participants will also receive a workbook with chord patterns, charts, and all sorts of goodies to keep their strumming up after the Getaway ends.
Appropriate age and skill level: Ukulele Getaway is for musicians ages 6 through adult, and for students of all experience levels. Beginners are welcome.
What should I bring: Participants should bring a ukulele, a tuner and a smile! Don't have a ukulele yet? Don't worry! You can pick one up from any music store in the Rogue Valley.
